Fold the fabric width in half, then fold the length in half.
The folded fabric will measure
Length 110cm
Width 75cm
Lay the fabric on your cutting table with the raw edges to the left and folds to the right.
See patterns 1, 2 and 3 for instructions.
Turn the dress right side out.
Wear the Juliet dress plain, or decorate it – some suggestions for decoration are below.
To decorate the Juliet dress
A simple thin, floaty cloak attached to your dress at the shoulders with a couple of safety pins.
Some fabric flowers. Make petal shapes from fabric, or if the fabric has a flower print on it, cut round the shapes, gather them up at the centre, to form petals. Two or three of these can be safety-pinned onto the shoulders of your cape.
A ribbon belt, tied, leaving long ends to attach some rosebuds. Tissue or crepe paper can be used to make rosebuds if you don’t want to use fabric.
Tiny buttons, beads, pearl necklaces . . . let your imagination fly and have fun.
For the gathers on the sleeves: ribbon or fabric strips can be applied round the gathers.
